Executive Team

Robert C. Early
Chairman of the Board
Robert leads Allant's strategic planning and growth initiatives. Robert joined Allant's Board of Directors in 2003 and joined the management team in 2004. Prior to this, Robert spent eight years in marketing and outsourcing services with both Acxiom Corporation and May & Speh, Inc. He joined Acxiom under a two year contract to co-lead the merger integration team and lead selected corporate development initiatives. Robert held various executive positions at May & Speh, including Board Director, Executive Vice President of Corporate Development and Chief Financial Officer. He was the principal architect of the May & Speh growth plan, successful IPO and sale to Acxiom for $625 million.

Robert previously worked with Graue Mill Partners, LLC, Ridge Capital Corporation and spent 12 years at Grant Thornton, LLP where he was the Partner responsible for the Chicago office's Capital Markets Consulting Group.

Robert earned his BA with honors from Duke University and his MBA from the University of Chicago. He is a Certified Public Accountant.

Frank Sowinski
Vice Chairman
of the Board
Frank has been working with MidOcean to evaluate business and marketing services opportunities. He spent most of his career at The Dun & Bradstreet Corporation (D&B) serving in numerous positions including Executive Vice President of Global Marketing, Chief Financial Officer, and President. Frank subsequently served as Executive Vice President - Chief Financial Officer of PriceWaterhouseCoopers prior to its sale to IBM in 2002 and Executive Vice President of Liz Claiborne Incorporated. Frank currently serves on the Board of Buckeye GP Holdings LP and previously served on the Boards of American Credit Indemnity and iMarket Corporation.


Terrence E. McCarthy
President and Chief Executive Officer and Member, Board of Directors
Terry has been with Allant for 15 years and has served as its president for the last 9 years. He has played a key leadership role in expanding the company's capabilities and developing it into a full-scale performance driven solution provider. During his tenure as president, Terry has helped to implement Allant's mail processing, database development and analytic services. Before joining Allant, he worked in management at First American Financial and as a consultant with Alexander Proudfoot & Company. Terry is a graduate of Northern Illinois University.

Tamara L. Affrunti
Chief Financial Officer
Tamara joined The Allant Group in 2000 and was named Chief Financial Officer in 2005. In her capacity as CFO, she is responsible for managing the financial operations of the organization. In addition, Tamara and her team collaborate with various departments within the organization to ensure that corporate financial objectives are attained. Prior to her employment with Allant, she served as Corporate Controller for CARA Corporation (a subsidiary of Spiegel) where she was instrumental in the sale of the company to Affiliated Computer Services. Subsequently, she served as divisional Controller for their technology division and became responsible for coordinating the integration of all acquisitions made by the technology subsidiary. Tamara has a BA from California State in Accounting and is also a Certified Public Accountant.

Kevin Cavanaugh
Chief Technology Officer

Kevin joined Allant in 2008 and is responsible for defining Allant’s technology vision and solution offerings. He plays an integral role in the company’s strategic direction, development and ongoing growth.  Kevin is a subject matter expert in marketing applications, online/offline integration and multi-channel database marketing. He leads our business analysts, product/solution development and interactive marketing teams.

Before joining Allant, Kevin spent nine years at Unica Corporation, where he established their Product Management function and was most recently their Vice President of Technology. In his role, Kevin was the lead technologist for internet and cross-channel (online/offline) solutions. He worked with many of Unica’s most sophisticated customers and partners to develop innovative marketing solutions and was responsible for the overall product roadmap.  Prior to Unica, Kevin built and led full service consulting teams and held multiple technology leadership positions with leading telecommunications, multimedia and engineering firms. He began his career as a civilian researcher for the US Navy and has led multi-year DARPA applied research programs. Kevin is a widely published author and speaker who has presented at multiple DMA and NCDM events.

Kevin earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering with Honors from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.

David B. Irwin
Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing
Dave joined the Allant group in 2004 and leads Allant's corporate sales and marketing strategies including growth strategies for targeted vertical markets including retail, financial services and telecommunications. Dave's role includes solution development, go-to-market strategy, messaging, proposal delivery, analyst relations, and marketing and corporate development functions. Dave most recently held the position of Business Development Leader, Corporate Strategy for Acxiom Corporation and held various sales and marketing leadership positions for Acxiom and May & Speh, Inc. over the previous nine years. Dave has over 15 years experience in the direct / database marketing field. Dave holds a BA from Bucknell University as well as an MBA from Loyola University (Chicago) with concentrations in Management Information Systems and Marketing. He is also a published author and an industry and analyst reference on subjects such as Customer Relationship Management, Sales Effectiveness and Strategic Best Practices for Marketing / CRM.

Jonathan M. Matuzak
Executive Vice President, Operations and Delivery
Jon leads Allant's operational capabilities and ensures that all of the company's systems - from hardware and software to processes and methodologies are efficient, accurate and effective. In addition, he oversees the growth and development of Allant staff. Since joining the company in 1990, Jon has helped develop a number of service offerings and infrastructure systems, including one of the first client server based data centers in the industry. He was also the architect for the company's operational processes in both the U.S. and Canada. Jon is a graduate of North Central College.

Eric C. Schmitt
Executive Vice President and Senior Principal, Professional Services Group

Eric joined Allant as Executive Vice President and Senior Principal in Allant’s Professional Services
Group. Eric is a widely recognized thought leader who spent more than eight years at Forrester Research,
where he interviewed, surveyed, advised and consulted with thousands of marketers and technology
professionals in his role as industry analyst. Eric plays a dual leadership role at Allant. First he serves as a key architect of Allant’s growth strategy and corporate development. Equally important, Eric focuses on the overall success of Allant clients by working with their senior management to ensure that their marketing capabilities, from customer acquisition through retention and growth, rank at the forefront of their industry.

Eric has published more than 150 best practices, forecasts and vendor assessment research reports on topics including database and direct marketing, CRM, the future of TV advertising, email marketing and Web
analytics. His 2004 report “Left Brain Marketing” is widely recognized as an industry landmark, and his
opinions are regularly sought out by trade and mainstream business publications including Fortune, Business
Week and The Wall Street Journal. Eric holds a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science from Rutgers
University College of Engineering and a MBA from Bentley College.

Tony Coulson
Vice President, Advanced Advertising and Media Solutions

Tony leads Allant's initiatives in advanced advertising and media solutions including addressable and interactive TV advertising. Prior to joining Allant, Tony spent four years with Comcast where he lead the first household level addressable trial in the nation, as well as Comcast's early introduction to interactive TV. He was also involved in some of the pioneering advancements related to TV measurement using Return Path Data. In addition to deep subject matter expertise in advanced advertising, Tony brings extensive marketing experience to Allant encompassing technology, direct marketing and brand management gained from his years with such world class organizations as Accenture, Catalina Marketing, Kraft Foods and Unilever. Tony earned his MBA in Marketing and Finance from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a BS from the University of California Santa Barbara in Environmental Science.

Joseph M. DeCosmo
Executive Vice President, Strategic and Analytic Services
Joe joined Allant in 2005 and leads Allant's strategic and analytic services group, focusing on the development of analytic-based solutions for strategic marketing opportunities and developing sophisticated, creative and effective marketing solutions. In June of 2005, Allant acquired DeCosmo & Associates, Inc. Joe is an active member of and speaker for the Chicago Association of Direct Marketing, where he currently serves as President of the Association. He is also an active member of the Chicago Chapters of the American Statistical Association and The American Marketing Association. Joe holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Lewis University and a Master of Arts degree in Economics, with an emphasis in econometrics and statistics, from The University of Illinois at Chicago.

Joe Mozden, Jr.
Senior Vice President/General Manager, Strategic Account Management

Joe is focused on ensuring that key strategic accounts are effectively achieving their performance objectives in both the short and long term. His role is to ensure that Allant operationalizes its client solutions in a way that efficiently and effectively achieves their measurable performance objectives.

Joe comes to Allant having held a variety of senior management roles where key account management and exceptional client performance were paramount. Past positions included Sales & Management Consultant, S.V.P. Sales & Marketing for Commonwealth Telephone Enterprises, General Manager for LSSI, Sales Manager and Area Business Manager for Bay Networks / Nortel Networks and Director, Merger Strategies for Verizon.

Joe received his MBA with high distinction in Finance and International Business from the Stern School of Business at New York University and a BS in Engineering from Renesselaer Polytechnic Institute, also in New York.

Kurt R. Janvrin
Senior Principal, Allant Professional Services
Kurt heads Allant’s Strategic Consulting team, providing thought leadership on marketing performance/ROI and creating high value strategies that drive breakthrough results for Allant’s clients. Kurt’s work with leading customer-focused companies across a range of industries gives him a rare perspective on the trends, challenges and transferrable best practices for monetizing the value of marketing activities to address today’s evolving business models and complex customer interactions.

Kurt has delivered over 90 ROMI analyses to client finance and marketing leaders since launching Allant’s Marketing ROI services in 2004. Working with clients in the Communications and Media, Retail, Consumer and Financial Services, and Transportation industries, Kurt has helped marketing teams prove their return on marketing investments and earn awards for ‘six sigma’ performance . Kurt is a frequent speaker and facilitator at industry conferences on increasing the economic value from marketing and on best practices for measurable, cost effective customer acquisition, retention and growth.

Kurt joined Allant in 2001 after a 15 year career with PwC Consulting (now IBM Business Services), most recently as a Strategic Consulting Services Practice Director. At PwC, he led projects in business and marketing strategy, performance measurement, process improvement/change management, product development, forecasting, promotions logistics and customer satisfaction.

Kurt is an MBA graduate of the Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania with a Dual Major in Management and Finance. He received his undergraduate degree in Industrial & Enterprise Systems Engineering from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
